Born on July 25, 1844 in Philadelphia.
Died on June 25, 1916 in Philadelphia.
Thomas Eakins completed his education at both the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and at the Academy of Pennsylvania where he was a professor of anatomy until 1886. On a journey through Spain, he trained himself by means of works by Jusepe de Ribera and Diego Velázquez. His works appeared all the more naturalistic, because he worked with photos as well as with living models. |
