Naturalism
|
In the history of art, Naturalism is a streaming in art which lasted from about 1880 to 1900. The artists of the Naturalism tried to depict the real world as exactly as possible. Thereby it was tried to work with exact natural sciences' methods in order to get to a broad cognition. Naturalism aimed at different targets than for example the Impressionism and can be seen philosophically as the contrary to the Existentialism. The target of the Naturalistic artists is to depict the real world. The depiction of the external correctness is thereby a rule in Naturalism, which is, however, not a guarantee for the inner truth. Naturalism is often confused with Realism.
